Opinion editor and columnist
Barçı Yinanç is an opinion editor and columnist at Hürriyet Daily News. She also conducts the paper’s weekly interviews.
She started her journalistic career in 1990 and from then on, Ms. Yinanç has covered Turkish foreign policy issues, including Turkish – EU relations, transatlantic ties and regional developments from the Middle East to the Caucasus and conducted numerous interviews with political leaders, including UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali, King Abdullah II of Jordan, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, late Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs Anna Lindh, German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, and Greek Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni.
Mr. Yinanç is frequently invited to provide comments to various international media outlets such as Al Jazeera, BBC and France 24 and moderate numerous panels, including at the UN Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul (May, 2016). She also worked as a reporter and program editor for CNN Türk (2001-2004).
Ms. Yinanç holds a degree in international relations from Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ), Ankara. She speaks fluent Turkish, English and French.
