Ombudswoman, Office of the Ombudsman, Croatia
Lora Vidović is the Ombudswoman at the office of Ombudsman in Croatia since March 2013, after the Parliament appointed her the commissioner responsible for the promotion and protection of human rights and freedoms, for a term of eight years. Lora has also been the Chair of ENNHRI since 2016 and a European Member of GANNHRI Bureau.
Prior to her current position, she worked as the Head of the UNICEF Office in Croatia and as Deputy Ombudsman for Children (2006 – 2010). During that time, Ms. Vidović had the opportunity to work on promoting the general knowledge on and improvement of children’s rights and interests in Croatia.
She participated on numerous international seminars, conferences and meetings related to human rights and democratization. Also, Lora published a series of expert papers concerning the status of women in employment and on children’s status in society and family. Ms. Vidović is graduated from the Faculty of Law in Zagreb.
