Security and Nuclear Safety Programme Manager, European Commission
Martin Andersen has a background in energy science and technology. He is currently working as Senior Programme Manager within the Unit for Security and Nuclear Safety at the European Commission (EC), and is part of the Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development (DEVCO)
For the past 6 years, Martin Andersen has been the coordinator for the European Commission’s nuclear safety cooperation with Central Asia and Mongolia dealing especially with the development of EU’s environmental remediation program for uranium legacy sites in Central Asia.
He joined the European Commission in 1997, where he was initially engaged in safeguards operations and inspections, followed by 9 years at the EU Delegations to Namibia and Ghana working with development cooperation under the European Development Fund.
Prior to his work at the European Commission, he worked 5 years in the Danish energy sector.
